Meat-free day

What kind of impact do non-vegetarian diets have on the planet? According to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), non-vegetarian diets account for 51 percent of the world’s yearly greenhouse gas emissions.

Reducing our consumption of meat products is a great way to help the environment.

Did you know that in 100 calories worth of broccoli, there is 11.2 g of protein, 182 mg of calcium and 2.2 mg of iron? The same amount of beef contains only 5.4 g of protein, 2.4 mg of calcium and 0.7 mg of iron.

With all this in mind, Future of Cities will offer an entirely vegetarian menu on 6 October.

Bicycling!

Transportation which relies on fossil fuels emits large amounts of greenhouse gas into the atmosphere. Future of Cities wants to be part of the solution, so we have arranged for bicycles to be available for transportation from hotels to the congress venue. Pedal to the congress and be an active part of the global movement to combat climate change.

Upcycled bag made from used banner

Have you heard about ‘Upcycling’? `Value Upgrading Recycling` is the process of upgrading the value of a product by recycling it for further use. A number of companies in Korea offer upcycled goods. The upcycled bag you received from Future of Cities was created by a Korean company using a discarded banner. Please promote upcycling by using this bag after the end of the congress.

Corn plastic cup

Paper cups are often found at meetings and conferences. They are used once and then thrown in the garbage. In order to give you a meaningful gift, while reducing waste, Future of Cities offers you a corn plastic cup to use for your congress beverages.

Pencil from recycled paper

Writing supplies are a necessity at a congress. Future of Cities offers you a pencil, made from recycled paper, to record all the important ideas during the plenaries and sessions.

Carbon offset

Future of Cities is closely monitoring its carbon footprint and will offset carbon emissions generated from the congress by funding a carbon absorption project. Your contribution to the carbon offset fund is greatly appreciated. Proceeds will go toward building a new park in Incheon Metropolitan City!
